Jewel Kilcher will headline the 2017 Salmonfest, which takes place Aug. 4-6 in Ninilchik, the festival announced Monday.

The country, folk and pop singer-songwriter was raised in Homer. Her family, the Kilchers, is followed on The Discovery Channel’s “Alaska: The Last Frontier.”

The Grammy-nominated artist has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide.

Jewel’s latest album is 2015’s “Picking Up the Pieces.” She rose to stardom in 1995 with her debut album “Pieces of You,” which featured the hits “Who Will Save Your Soul?” “Foolish Games” and  “You Were Meant for Me.”

Jewel’s experience as a performing musician started in Anchorage, she told the ADN in a 2009 interview. The Hotel Captain Cook was her first singing venue. Her parents performed in a dinner show, and 6-year-old Jewel eventually joined them.
